On 8th April, 2012, a group of enthusiastic ladies turned up at Kibworth Village Hall after founder, Louise, put the word out that she was starting a ladies choir in the village to raise funds for a forthcoming charity event.
Some of those who walked through that door had sung before, but most of them had only ever sung in the car or in the shower – but that didn’t matter – and still doesn’t nearly 12 years later! One thing we all had in common – we wanted to have fun, to sing together and to raise funds for Cancer Research UK’s Relay for Life event.
Kibworth Ladies Choir has come along way under the leadership and musical guidance of our musical director, Yvette Sexton, who joined us in 2013. Since then we have transformed as a choir and accomplished so much.
In 2014 we were joined by Chris McCormick, our wonderful piano accompanist whose exceptional talent has brought out the best in us. Performing with Chris is always an absolute joy!
After a short break during Covid, the choir came back together stronger than ever under the leadership of not only Louise and Yvette, but also Trina Ward. Trina has been a member of the choir since day one and now uses her vocal coaching experience to lead the choir warm up’s and is now also one of the musical directors.
